Payment of Overtime and Granting of Compensatory Time

The following section outlines the state’s policy toward overtime compensation, with exempt and non-exempt employees receiving different reimbursement for hours that go beyond the standard work week.   Exempt employees, as defined in this section, may receive extra time off, while non-exempt employees typically receive monetary payment at a higher rate for any extra hours worked.  Included in the documents are examples of what constitutes work for the purpose of determining overtime, as well as how to handle overtime during declared emergencies.
