The Educational Development Division (ED) performs comprehensive policy, planning, and budget development for the Governor in education, including the lottery.

ED staff have a variety of responsibilities:

  • Performing research on educational issues in Georgia
  • Analyzing budget requests from education agencies needed for the Governor's recommendations to the General Assembly
  • Providing information to support the Governor's policy and legislative initiatives
  • Assisting education agencies with implementation programs and policies
  • Reviewing and analyzing state and federal legislation affecting education
  • Providing information to the public, interest groups, educators, legislators, state agencies, and others regarding educational issues
