In accordance with Title 28 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, the Office of Planning and Budget and the Department of Audits and Accounts provide fiscal notes to any bill significantly impacting the state revenues or expenditures. These fiscal notes provide a reliable estimate of the changes in revenues or expenditures.
A bill sponsor has until November 1st of year proceeding the Legislative Session to request a fiscal note. A member-elect has until December 1st of year proceeding the Legislative Session to request a fiscal note. All fiscal notes requested prior to the November 1st deadline will be completed prior to the start of the Legislative Session. During Session, fiscal notes are completed within five days of the initial request.
